Midgard means 'Empire of the People' and is deeply rooted in Germanic mythology. The 16000 ha farm is nestled in the unspoiled natural splendour of the Otjihavera mountains. Carl List acquired Midgard in 1937. The old farm house, built of clay bricks, has been preserved until today and was converted into a guest farm in 1993. Midgard has kept its individual character as a private country home and African farm. All rooms are individually furnished with en-suite bathroom, telephone and facilities to make tea/ coffee. The VIP rooms are equipped air-conditioning/ ceiling fan, TV, hairdryer and a fridge.
Facilities include a restaurant, bar, swimming pools, conference rooms, open air chess, kids playground, sports field, table tennis, tennis court, snooker table, gym, 9 pin bowling alley and pool bar. The varied cuisine caters for all tastes. Meals are served with a variety of biologically grown fruit and vegetables from an own garden (seasonal). Guests can enjoy their meals outside, in the 'Lapa' or 'Boma' dining area. Midgard offers an ideal environment for congresses and conferences, seminars, workshops and cultural events.
